Trump Reacts To Israel's Bombing in Qatar

United States President Donald Trump has sharply criticised Israel’s recent airstrike in Qatar, warning that the move threatens both regional stability and America’s diplomatic interests.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump described the strike, which targeted a Hamas facility in Doha, as a “serious misstep” by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 

He stressed that the decision was made without his administration’s approval.

“This was entirely Prime Minister Netanyahu’s call,” Trump wrote. 

“Bombing a close ally that is courageously working with us to end this conflict does not help Israel or the United States. It was the wrong target in the wrong place.”

Trump reaffirmed Qatar’s status as a key partner in Middle East diplomacy, praising the Gulf nation for hosting sensitive peace discussions despite the ongoing war. 

“Qatar has taken risks to help us push for an end to hostilities,” he noted. “That trust should be protected, not tested.”

A senior White House official told reporters that Trump immediately instructed his Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, to alert Qatari leaders about the impending strike. 

“The warning was unfortunately too late,” the official said, confirming that the attack went ahead despite efforts to intervene.

Speaking further on the crisis, Trump demanded the release of hostages and the repatriation of bodies held by armed groups, describing the humanitarian situation as “intolerable.”

“I want every hostage returned, every innocent life accounted for, and this war to stop now,” he said. “There’s no lasting victory in endless fighting.”

Following the strike, Trump reportedly held separate conversations with Netanyahu and Qatar’s Emir. 

He described both discussions as “frank but respectful,” adding that he believed the incident could become “a turning point toward peace” if all sides used the moment to recommit to negotiations.

“I told Prime Minister Netanyahu that peace is still possible,” Trump said. “I assured the Emir of Qatar that such an attack will not happen again on their soil. We value Qatar as a true friend of the United States.”

The president also revealed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had been directed to finalise a new defence cooperation agreement with Qatar, aimed at reinforcing military coordination and preventing similar crises.

Trump’s remarks come just days after he issued what he called a “final warning” to Hamas, urging the militant group to accept ongoing peace proposals or face further international isolation.
