AnambraDecides: APC Defeats LP, ADC in Peter Obi's Polling Unit

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated the Labour Party in the unit of former Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as early results from parts of Amatutu village in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, continue to emerge. 

At Polling Unit 019, Umudimakasi, Amatutu village, the polling unit where Obi voted, APC secured 73 votes, defeating Labour Party (LP), which polled 57 votes. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came third with 38 votes, while four other parties: YPP, ZLP, APM, ADC and AAC, recorded one vote each.

The defeat is a major upset despite Obi's grassroots support in Agulu and Anaocha environs, where he has enjoyed historical support.

The loss has which came as a surprise, has since generated reactions on social media, with people expecting him to win at his polling unit.

However, APC governorship running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, hails from the area.

Beyond Obi’s polling unit, early results from other units in Amatutu show the APC also leading.

At Polling Unit 015, Amatutu Village Hall, Agulu, the APC secured a decisive victory with 117 votes, while APGA and the Labour Party trailed with 29 and 10 votes, respectively. 

In the same vein, at Polling Unit 023, Model Primary Health Care Centre, also in Agulu, APC led again with 25 votes, followed by APGA (8) and Labour Party (7), while YPP and ADC garnered one vote each. 

The APC’s consistent lead across the three polling units indicates that the party may be making significant inroads in Anaocha, an area long viewed as a stronghold of APGA and, more recently, the Labour Party.

Collation of results is still ongoing across the LGA and the State.
