A United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has expressed deep worry over the persistent attacks on Christians in Nigeria, saying the situation has become so disturbing that he struggles to sleep.
Moore spoke on Thursday during a public hearing of the US Congress reviewing Nigeria’s designation as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC), following the Trump administration’s decision to reinstate the status.
His remarks came amid rising insecurity in several parts of Nigeria, with renewed violence targeting rural communities and places of worship.
Only this week, gunmen attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, under Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing three worshippers and abducting many others, including the church pastor.
The overnight raid, which threw the community into mourning and renewed calls for stronger security measures around churches.
Reacting to the situation, Moore said, “I find it hard to sleep at night; I pray every single night about the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
“Every night, I’m just thinking about my brothers and sisters in Christ in that country who are murdered for the profession of our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s absolutely heartbreaking,” he said.
