Multimillion Properties Damaged as Fire Ravages Shops in Ibadan

Properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of fire that ravaged a shopping complex in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Golab Shopping Complex, Redeem Junction, in the Bembo area of Apata, Ibadan.

Five shops on the upper floor of the complex were affected by the fire.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident, saying no life was lost.

Akinwande in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, said the root cause of the inferno has not been ascertained.

“On getting there, we met five shops at the upper floor of the complex building engulfed by fire.

“Firemen promptly launched a coordinated attack on the blaze and restricted the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.

“No casualty was recorded and the root cause of the fire incident was yet to ascertain and fire investigation still in progress,” the statement said.
