The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has halted preparations for its December 2 governorship primary amid a deepening national leadership dispute, warning that Governor Ademola Adeleke could pull out of the 2026 ticket race if the crisis persists.
The party said Adeleke’s participation would depend on a resolution that aligns with the provisions recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission and complies with electoral timelines.
Addressing reporters on Monday, the Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, announced that the primary could no longer proceed as scheduled.
The party leadership said the uncertainty at the national level had created a legal and procedural bottleneck that made it impossible to conduct a valid governorship primary.
