Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has assured residents affected by ongoing Ibadan Circular Road projects that his administration will review all cases of underpaid compensation, particularly where some property owners were reportedly undervalued.
The Governor, who spoke through his Executive Adviser on the New Towns and Cities Development Authority, OYNTCDA, Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi, said the government remains committed to fairness, transparency, and public confidence in all its urban renewal initiatives.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing held at the Governor’s Office Conference Room, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, Mrs. Adebiyi confirmed that the Governor had received reports indicating that some affected residents did not receive adequate compensation because their properties were not properly valued.
The Executive Adviser also announced that the agency will soon publish the names of affected property owners, along with the exact compensation amounts paid to each person.
She explained that the planned publication is aimed at strengthening transparency and boosting public trust in the government’s processes.
She reiterated that OYNTCDA will continue its work across major towns in the state and assured residents that every stage of the development process will involve public engagement.
She then appealed for patience and cooperation, stressing that the affected property owners will be reintegrated.
Recall that Governor Makinde last week held an open engagement with property owners in Ido Local Government following protests over the initial 500-metre setback proposal.
