Mass Abductions Worrisome, Security Needs Patience — Remi Tinubu

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has raised concern over the spate of mass abductions recorded across the country, describing the development as deeply troubling.

Mrs Tinubu spoke during a Christmas engagement with children at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, where she reassured Nigerians that the Federal Government was working to strengthen security responses, particularly in cases involving children.

While addressing ongoing rescue operations, the First Lady said the administration responded swiftly to the recent incidents but emphasised that managing security in a country as large and diverse as Nigeria required patience and collective commitment.

She said several children who attended the event expressed interest in joining the military, adding that their enthusiasm reflected a growing desire among young Nigerians to contribute to national security.

Mrs Tinubu also used the annual Christmas event—designed to celebrate children, including those from less privileged backgrounds—to urge citizens to embrace cultural identity and show compassion during the festive season.

According to her, Christmas offers an opportunity to promote storytelling and traditions rooted in African heritage, while also strengthening community bonds through acts of kindness and support.

She encouraged Nigerians to make generosity a priority in the coming year, noting that continued acts of giving play a crucial role in building resilient and connected communities.
