Oyebamiji Clinches APC Osun Guber Ticket

Bola Oyebamiji

Bola Oyebamiji, former chairman of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority, has secured the All Progressives Congress ticket for the 2026 Osun State governorship election, emerging as the party’s consensus choice.

His emergence followed a decisive primary that brought together 1,660 accredited delegates, all of whom endorsed his candidacy without dissent. The exercise reflected a rare show of internal unity within the party.

Earlier, Oyebamiji was formally presented for nomination by Kunle Adegoke, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, while Senator Babajide Omoworare seconded the move, setting the stage for a swift affirmation.

Subsequently, the chairman of the APC primary election committee, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, subjected the nomination to a voice vote, which was overwhelmingly in Oyebamiji’s favour.

Announcing the outcome, Okpebholo said the process demonstrated the party’s collective resolve ahead of the Osun governorship race

“What we have witnessed here is a united decision that strengthens our chances in the election ahead,” he said.

Moreover, party leaders at the venue described the unanimous vote as a signal of confidence in Oyebamiji’s experience in public administration and governance.

With the primary concluded, attention is now shifting to how the APC candidate will position his campaign, as Osun prepares for a closely watched governorship contest next year.
