The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old man, Daniel Ajibola, over the alleged defilement of a 17-year-old girl, describing the arrest as a significant step in its ongoing efforts to protect residents of the state.
In a statement issued on December 30, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed that the incident was reported on December 25, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m. at the Alakia Adelubi Police Division.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor after giving her an intoxicating drink. The command added that the suspect confessed to committing the offence during interrogation.
Following the report, the victim was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination, while police officers visited the scene and promptly arrested the suspect.
Due to the gravity of the case, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, ordered that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough and discreet investigation.
The commissioner reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for sexual violence and crimes against women and other vulnerable members of society, assuring that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police further reassured residents of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and appealed to the public to continue providing credible information to support crime prevention and detection efforts.
