Tinubu Ordered Defence Minister to Step Side - Sowore Alleges

Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu directed Mohammed Badaru Abubakar to step down as Minister of Defence.

Naija Metro News had reported that Badaru had on Monday resigned from the cabinet, a decision he linked to health challenges.

But reacting in a Facebook post, Sowore claimed the resignation was not voluntary, insisting it was orchestrated to clear the path for the appointment of former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as the new defence minister.

He said, Abubakar “was asked by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step aside to make room for former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa to be appointed Defence Minister”.

Sowore further alleged that the Federal Government is also facing pressure to sack the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, over worsening security issues.

“There are also strong indications that US President Donald Trump’s United States military is pressing for the removal of the equally ineffective and utterly useless Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, citing serious concerns over intelligence sharing and collaboration”, Sowore added.
