Oyo Police Arrest 49yr Old Man for Defiling 13yr Old Minor in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 49 year old man, one Peter Adubi, in connection with the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old minor.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, January 9.

The police stated that the arrest followed a report by the guardian of the minor, who noticed strange and unusual behavioral changes of sexual nature the child.

The police immediately swung into action and following medical evidence that confirmed the allegation, the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

“The arrest followed a report made on 08 January 2026 at about 2050hrs by the minor’s guardian, who noticed strange and unusual behavioural changes of a sexual nature in the minor and, upon gentle questioning, the minor disclosed that she had been sexually abused in 2022 while living with her mother at the Molade area of Ibadan.

“Upon receipt of the report, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly committed the offence during that period.

“This disclosure provided the basis for immediate medical intervention to establish the facts of the case. Consequently, the minor was taken to the hospital for medical examination, where findings confirmed sexual abuse.

“This medical evidence strengthened the case against the suspect and guided the next steps in the investigation.

“As a result, the suspect, Peter Adubi, was taken into custody. The crime scene was visited, and the case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Gender Desk, for discreet and thorough investigation,” The Police stated.

The Command however, assured the people of Oyo State of its commitment to a justice system that serves all equally and fairly.

The statement maintained that the command will diligently pursue justice for the victim and her family on the case.

The command also urged residents to immediately report any suspicious criminal activity to the police.

“Citizens are strongly urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any incidents of sexual abuse, as community cooperation remains vital in safeguarding our children and ensuring a safer society,” the statement concluded.
