An APC chieftain, Hon. Olawale Ojeleye, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing the Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Kajola, and Iwajowa Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement addressed to the people of the constituency, Ojeleye who has remained a consistent and loyal progressive said his decision followed deep reflection, extensive consultations, and a strong sense of responsibility to serve his people.
A long-standing member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ojeleye was the party’s flag bearer during the 2019 general elections for the Kajola State Constituency. Despite political challenges and shifting tides, he has remained steadfast in his commitment to progressive ideals and has continued to support the party through difficult periods.
Ojeleye previously served Nigeria at the highest level of government, working with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) as an intelligence analyst. He voluntarily resigned from service to participate in the 2019 general elections, answering what he described as a call to serve his people directly through the democratic process.
While acknowledging advice from friends and well-wishers who urged him to pursue more financially rewarding paths, Ojeleye emphasized that his motivation for seeking public office is not personal gain, but service particularly to communities whose voices are rarely heard beyond Iseyin, Iganna, Otu, Ado-Awaye, and surrounding areas.
He noted that this commitment reflects the political values and legacy of his father, a former presidential aspirant and associate of prominent progressive leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, the late Chief Bola Ige, and the late Chief Lam Adesina.
His father was active in progressive politics as a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during the 1993 general elections and was a founding member of NADECO, Alliance for Democracy (AD), and later the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) until his passing on May 30, 2010.
“Politics for me is not about profit or personal ambition. It is about the common man and ensuring that our people are not left behind,” Ojeleye stated.
He called on residents of the constituency to take collective ownership of their future, stressing the importance of unity and shared responsibility in building a better society for present and future generations, particularly the less privileged.
Ojeleye further pledged his commitment to strengthening institutions and ensuring that government services are accessible to all citizens, regardless of class, background, or social status.
Outlining his legislative priorities, he identified Agriculture, Education, and Women and Youth Empowerment as key focus areas, promising to champion policies that will deliver tangible and sustainable benefits to the constituency.
Addressing young people directly, Ojeleye urged them to be part of what he described as a new movement for positive change.
“This is our time. The time is now,” he said, expressing readiness to usher in a new dawn for the constituency.
