The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has announced the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away after a brief illness.
The sad news was broken on Friday by her grandson, Bello El-Rufai, who confirmed the development in a short statement and appealed for prayers for the repose of her soul.
Family sources revealed that the late Hajiya Umma had been battling age-related health issues before her demise.
Her passing has elicited condolences from political associates, allies, and well-wishers, many of whom described her as a strong pillar of support to her family and a respected elder in the community.
As of the time of this report, official condolence messages from prominent political figures were still being prepared.
The family is expected to announce burial arrangements soon, in line with Islamic rites, which are usually observed shortly after death in Northern Nigeria.
