Four Reps Dump PDP, LP for APC Amid Hardship

Federal House of Representatives

Four members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday defected from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress.

The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defections during plenary after reading the letters submitted by the lawmakers.

Those who left the PDP for the APC include Inuwa Garuba, representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State; Abdullahi El-Rasheed, who represents Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of the state; and Mohammed Audu of Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State.

Also, Obika Chinedu, the lawmaker representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency of the Federal Capital Territory, defected from the Labour Party to the APC.

The legislators cited persistent internal crises within their former parties as the major reason for their decision to switch political allegiance.

In a related development, Adewale Adebayo, who represents Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, also announced his defection from the PDP to the Accord Party.
