Wike Is Our National Leader – Natasha Dumps Makinde’s Camp, Backs FCT Minister's PDP Faction

Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has declared support for the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Nyesom Wike, describing the former Rivers State governor as the party’s “National Leader.”

The lawmaker made the remark on Sunday night at the PDP National Convention held in Abuja, where party stakeholders gathered amid ongoing internal disagreements.

Addressing delegates at the event, Natasha publicly acknowledged Wike, giving him what she termed special recognition before party members.

“Special recognition to our National Leader of our great party, the PDP, His Excellency Nyesom Wike,” she said.

Wike had earlier declared that members of the party successfully rescued the organisation from individuals he accused of betraying its founding ideals and democratic principles.

Speaking during the party's national convention themed “Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal,” Wike said the party endured a major leadership crisis that at one point threatened its survival.

However, he noted that loyal members remained steadfast and worked collectively to restore the party’s internal structure and direction.

According to him, the PDP faithful resisted attempts by some actors to divide the party along ethnic and geographical lines, while also confronting tendencies that undermined internal democracy and the rule of law within the organisation.

Moreover, Wike praised party members for demonstrating resilience throughout the crisis, stating that many supporters refused to abandon the PDP despite predictions by critics that the party would collapse.
