Florence Ajimobi Denies Role in Alleged Makinde’s Impeachment Plot, Describes Claims As Baseless

Former First Lady of Oyo State and ambassador-designate to Austria, Dr. Florence Ajimobi, has denied viral allegations linking her to an alleged financial inducement scheme aimed at influencing members of the Oyo State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.

In a statement issued by her media office, Ajimobi described the allegations as “entirely false, baseless, and a deliberate act of disinformation” intended to tarnish her image and mislead the public.

She specifically refuted claims that she hosted or participated in any meeting in Lagos or elsewhere where discussions on impeachment or destabilisation of the state government were allegedly held.

“At no time did I convene, attend, or participate in any such meeting with any individual or group for the purpose of discussing impeachment or destabilising the Oyo State Government,” the statement read.

The former First Lady stressed that attempts to link her to the allegations were politically motivated and aimed at damaging her reputation among residents of Oyo State and beyond.

“Any attempt to associate my name with such a plot is purely mischievous and a deliberate attempt at character assassination,” she added.

She further stated that she had no political involvement in activities concerning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, insisting that she remained focused on her humanitarian and professional engagements.

The statement also noted that several lawmakers, including Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, had similarly denied any involvement in an impeachment plot or receipt of inducements from political actors.

Ajimobi maintained that she has never engaged in any action capable of undermining the peace and stability of the state, urging the public to disregard the reports in circulation.

She warned that continued spread of false information could attract legal consequences if not retracted, adding that she remains committed to public service and humanitarian contributions.

“I will not be distracted by unfounded and mischievous claims aimed at dragging my name into political controversies,” she said.
