The Plateau State Government has relaxed the previously imposed 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area following signs of improved security conditions after the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba.
Authorities stated that the adjustment takes effect on April 1, 2026, allowing residents to resume normal daily activities for limited hours while security agencies continue to monitor the situation across the area.
Under the revised arrangement, movement within Jos North will now be permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day.
Outside those hours, restrictions will remain in force as part of ongoing efforts to stabilise the community.
State officials explained that the decision followed a review of the security situation after calm gradually returned to the affected neighbourhoods.
According to the government, easing the restriction is intended to help residents access essential services and sustain economic activities without undermining safety measures.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, said the administration remains cautious despite the improved conditions.
“The government observed a noticeable reduction in tension within the area, which informed the decision to relax the curfew for specific hours,” she said.
Ramnap added that security personnel will maintain a strong presence across Jos North to prevent further disturbances.
She urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and comply strictly with the adjusted curfew schedule.
“Citizens must remain alert and law-abiding. Continued cooperation from the public will help authorities preserve the calm that is gradually returning,” she said.
The state government also commended residents for their patience during the restrictions and reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Plateau State.
Officials further assured that the situation would be reviewed regularly, with additional measures taken if security conditions change.
