Four Men Swap Wives for Sex in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has detained four men in Katagum Local Government Area over an alleged arrangement involving the exchange of wives for sex. 

Police sources disclosed that the suspects were handed over to officers at the Azare Divisional Headquarters by officials of the Hisbah board operating in the Katagum Zone after intelligence reports linked them to the controversial act.

Those arrested were identified as Bashir Adamu, Auwalu Mohammed, Mohammed Mohammed and Salisu Mohammed, all residents of different areas within Azare town.

Investigators alleged that the men had mutually agreed to swap their spouses for sexual relationships, an action security officials described as capable of provoking unrest and moral outrage among residents.

A police source familiar with the investigation said authorities moved quickly after receiving information about the alleged arrangement.

“The matter was considered sensitive because of the possible reaction from members of the public. Security agencies had to step in immediately to avoid any breakdown of law and order,” the source said.

Furthermore, officials said the suspects were initially intercepted by the Hisbah command before being transferred to the police for further interrogation and legal processing.

Authorities added that detectives had commenced a full investigation to determine the extent of the alleged conspiracy and whether additional individuals were involved.

“The command is carrying out a detailed inquiry into the allegations, and appropriate legal action will follow once investigations are concluded,” another security official said.

Meanwhile, security agencies in the area said they were handling the case carefully to prevent tension or retaliatory actions within the community.

Police also reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing the law and maintaining public order across Bauchi State, especially in cases considered capable of triggering social unrest.
