The Association of Muslim Professionals in Nigeria (AMP), Oyo State Chapter, has exonerated the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, from allegations linking him to the recent abduction of relatives of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.

The association described the allegations as false, malicious and lacking any credible basis, insisting that Senator Alli’s longstanding record as a promoter of peace and community development contradicts attempts to associate him with any criminal activity.
In a statement signed by its Secretary, Alhaji Rahmon Malik, AMP said it was unfortunate that some individuals chose to exploit a sensitive security matter to spread unverified claims capable of misleading the public and creating unnecessary political tension.
The association noted that no security agency has established any connection between Senator Alli and the abduction of Adelabu’s sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons, urging the public to disregard what it described as unfounded allegations.
According to the group, Senator Alli has consistently demonstrated commitment to peace, justice and the security of lives and property through his public service and leadership roles.
AMP also commended the Oyo State Police Command and other security agencies for their tactical intelligence, professionalism and swift response which led to the successful rescue of Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons from their abductors.
The group said the operation further demonstrated the importance of intelligence-driven policing and effective coordination among security agencies in tackling criminal activities across the state.
While celebrating the successful rescue, the association urged politicians and political actors to refrain from using matters relating to insecurity to score political points or pursue campaigns of bitterness against perceived opponents.
It warned that the politicisation of criminal incidents and the spread of unverified information could undermine public confidence in security agencies and distract investigators from their primary responsibility of bringing perpetrators to justice.
AMP further expressed concern over the plight of teachers, schoolchildren and other victims abducted during the attack on schools in the Ahoro-Esinele area of Oriire Local Government Area.
The association called on the Federal Government, Oyo State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward securing the release of the victims, noting that the pain and anxiety being experienced by their families deserve urgent attention.
It specifically urged authorities to replicate the intelligence gathering, strategic coordination and operational efficiency that resulted in the rescue of Adelabu’s relatives in ongoing efforts to secure the freedom of the abducted teachers and children reportedly being held by their captors.
According to the group, every victim of kidnapping deserves equal attention regardless of social or political status, stressing that all available resources should be deployed to ensure the safe return of those still in captivity.
AMP reaffirmed its support for security agencies in their efforts to combat criminality across Oyo State and called on residents to continue cooperating with law enforcement authorities by providing useful information that could aid ongoing rescue operations.
