Question Sunday Igboho Over Oyo School Abduction Claims – Atiku’s Aide Urges DSS

The media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has called on security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, to provide information regarding the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

Ibe made the appeal on Thursday following claims by Igboho that he was aware of politicians allegedly linked to the kidnapping of schoolchildren in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.

The former vice president’s spokesman said security agencies, particularly the Department of State Services, should engage the activist if he possesses information capable of assisting ongoing efforts to secure the release of the victims and apprehend those behind the crime.

According to him, every legitimate avenue should be explored to hasten the rescue of the abducted pupils and their teachers.

Igboho had reportedly made the allegation while receiving newly elected executives of the National Association of Nigerian Students at his residence in Ibadan, where he claimed that some politicians were sponsoring criminal activities and warned that he might publicly identify them if the situation persisted.

Reacting to the claim, Ibe argued that such information should be made available to security authorities without delay.

He also raised concerns over what he described as the Federal Government’s response to separate incidents of school abductions across the country.

The Atiku aide questioned the handling of the reported abduction of dozens of schoolchildren in Mussa, Borno State, on May 15, asking whether the victims had received the same level of attention accorded to those kidnapped in Oyo State.

He wondered why the Federal Government had yet to make a high-profile intervention in the Borno incident and called for stronger measures to address insecurity in vulnerable communities.

Ibe further advocated the deployment of forest guards and other security mechanisms to states facing persistent threats from kidnappers and other criminal groups.

The comments come amid growing public concern over a series of school-related abductions and renewed calls for decisive action to tackle insecurity across different parts of the country.
