Under the proposed arrangement, party leaders who fail to deliver their polling units, wards or constituencies for the APC will not be considered for federal appointments.

Abia APC chairman, Chijioke Chukwu, announced the position on Sunday at the party secretariat in Umuahia during a reconciliation meeting following the party’s primary elections.

Chukwu said the APC would assess its leaders based on their actual electoral performance rather than their political connections.

According to him, the party plans to document the results from the polling units, wards and constituencies associated with its leaders and stakeholders after the 2027 elections.

He said the records would be made available to the national leadership of the APC to determine which members genuinely contributed to the party’s electoral success.

“From now on, political rewards must follow measurable results. Nobody should expect an appointment simply because they have contacts in Abuja,” Chukwu said.

He added that a leader who could not secure victory for the APC in their immediate political base should not expect to be considered for positions such as minister or federal commissioner.

Chukwu also urged APC members in Abia to remain united and focused as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.

He specifically cautioned House of Assembly candidates and other party stakeholders against actions that could undermine the APC or benefit rival political parties.

“We must put the interest of the party first and work together if we want to win in 2027,” he said.

Responding to the chairman’s call, APC member Sam Anya said party members in Ohafia had begun working on a political structure aimed at delivering President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.

Meanwhile, Chukwu has constituted a peace committee to address disagreements among party members and strengthen reconciliation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The committee is headed by Madukwe Ukaegbu and is expected to help resolve internal disputes and promote unity within the Abia APC.
