The Oyo State Government recently announced a new leadership team for The Polytechnic, Ibadan, bringing an end to an era of acting administrative leadership across key offices in the institution. Leading the registry division into this new chapter is Dr. Taiwo Sherifat Olajide, whose appointment as substantive Registrar takes effect from July 31, 2026, for a five-year term.

Dr. Olajide’s academic journey began at C&S New Eden Primary School in Bodija before she proceeded to Anwar-ul-Islam Grammar School in Eleyele for her secondary education. She then commenced her higher education at the University of Ibadan in 1995 and subsequently earning an Intermediate Diploma in Laboratory Technology in 1998. Continuing at the premier institution, she went on to obtain Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development in 2004, 2007, and 2020 respectively.
This formidable educational background laid the groundwork for a career dedicated to tertiary institution governance and administration. To strengthen her executive capacity, Dr. Olajide earned professional credentials across several notable bodies. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Business Diplomacy & Financial Management (IBDFM) and holds registered memberships in the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) Chartered, the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria, the Learning & Development Network International, and the Rural Sociological Association of Nigeria.
Dr. Olajide’s primary strength as Registrar lies in her two decades of continuous, step-by-step administrative training within The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she systematically learned the intricacies of institutional governance across key divisions of the registry department.
Students’ Affairs Office (2006–2009): Beginning as an Administrative Officer II and rising to Administrative Officer I, she served as Assistant to the Deputy Registrar on student matters, Secretary to the Committee of Hall Wardens, Scribe to the Students Disciplinary Committee, and administrator for Students’ Union elections.
Continuing Education Centre (2009–2015): Advancing through the Assistant Registrar and Senior Assistant Registrar cadres, her responsibilities expanded to serving as Scribe to the CEC Management Board and Tenders’ Board, Secretary to the Part-Time Lecturers Monitoring Committee and Poly Nursery/Primary School Board, and coordinator for part-time student clearances and registration exercises.
Academic Staff Establishment (2015–2018): Serving as Senior Assistant Registrar and later Principal Assistant Registrar, she headed the unit responsible for academic staff recruitment, processing appointments and promotions, and serving as Scribe to the Appointments & Promotions (Academics) Committee.
Faculty of Financial Management Studies (2018–2022): As Faculty Officer across the Principal Assistant Registrar and Deputy Registrar cadres, she directed overall faculty administration, examination coordination, results processing, and served as Secretary to the Faculty Level Promotion, Management, and Disciplinary Committees.
Admissions Office (2022–2026): Serving as Deputy Registrar (Admissions) prior to her appointment as the registrar , she managed student admission processing, result verification, and served as Secretary to the Institution Admissions Committee while representing the polytechnic at Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) policy meetings.
Throughout these postings, Dr. Olajide distinguished herself by introducing functional solutions to administrative challenges. As Admissions Officer, she modernized student admissions process by moving publicity beyond traditional print media into active digital channelwhich significantly boosted student applications. She also addressed critical operational bottlenecks by introducing a targeted data-processing system that successfully cleared multi-year backlogs on the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), enabling affected National Diploma graduates to complete their mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps.
Beyond her administrative dexterity, Dr Olajide also contributes actively to community development which includes advocating for staff welfare incentives during peak work periods, facilitating full tuition sponsorships for stranded students by engaging alumni networks, and mentoring students on personal discipline and moral conduct on campus.
Dr. Olajide maintains a social lifestyle as a member of the Ibadan Recreation Club . Also as a formidable table tennis player representing the institution at the Nigeria Polytechnics Senior Staff Games Association (NIPOSSGA) games where she has repeatedly won gold medals in mixed doubles, female doubles, and singles categories, she has travelled across Nigeria flying the flag of the institution high and in bright colours.
Dr Olajide is happily married and blessed with children.
