African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has vowed not to seek medical treatment abroad if he wins the 2027 presidential election.

Sowore made the declaration while discussing his plans for the presidency during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
He said he would accept whatever medical care was available in Nigeria, even in circumstances where the country’s health system could not treat his condition.
“Any sickness that I can’t treat in Nigeria when I become president should better kill me,” Sowore said, stressing that he would not use public office to secure special treatment outside the country.
The AAC candidate also addressed the role his family would play if he becomes president, saying he would not create official responsibilities for relatives at public expense.
According to him, becoming president would not change his marital status. However, he maintained that his wife would not operate an official First Lady office under his administration.
Sowore argued that the Nigerian Constitution does not establish the office of the First Lady. He therefore questioned the use of public resources to maintain such an office.
“There is no office of First Lady in the Nigerian Constitution,” he said, adding that women would still have a voice in his administration.
He said his presidency would instead be focused on serving Nigerians and directing public resources towards development projects rather than personal or family interests.
The AAC candidate’s position comes as political parties and presidential candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 general election, with campaigns already underway.
