Suspected armed bandits on Sunday morning attacked an Operation Burst security base located in a forest reserve along the Igbeti–Igboho axis of Oorelope Local Government Area, Oyo State.

According to a security update from the local government command, the attack took place between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
Security authorities revealed that the armed men stormed the base in large numbers, wielding powerful weapons and opening fire on the personnel stationed there in an apparent attempt to overrun the post and steal weapons.
Upon receiving a distress call, a joint team of security operatives was immediately mobilized to the scene, but the attackers had already fled before their arrival.
Although no casualties were recorded during the incident, the hoodlums set fire to a block within the base and a patrol van, destroying both.
Security operatives have since combed the surrounding area to track down the fleeing suspects, while investigations into the attack remain ongoing.
