President Bola Tinubu has congratulated filmmakers Damilola Osikoya and Nora Awolowo after the screening of Black Market drew 51,000 qualifying viewers to set a Guinness World Record.

Naija Metro News had reported that Osikoya of Switch Visual Production and Awolowo of Rixel Studios achieved the record for the largest attendance at a film screening at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, on Saturday, September 26.
Tinubu congratulated them in a statement issued by his special adviser on information and strategy Bayo Onanuga on Monday.
The president said the achievement was further evidence of the talent driving Nigeria’s creative industry.
He said Nigeria’s creative economy was building businesses, creating jobs and opening new markets for Nigerian talent, while film, music, fashion and art were taking the country’s stories and culture to audiences around the world.
Tinubu said the achievement of Black Market showed what was possible when Nigerian creativity was matched with enterprise and scale.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating more opportunities for young Nigerians to build livelihoods and globally competitive businesses from their talent.
The president commended everyone involved in Black Market and wished the team greater success.
The 51,000 viewers surpassed the previous record of 43,624 set during the screening of the Filipino film Felix Manalo at the Philippine Arena in 2015.
Lagos State deputy governor Obafemi Hamzat said about 64,000 people attended the TBS event, but 51,000 remained from the beginning of the film until the end and were counted for the record.
Awolowo produced Black Market, while Osikoya served as event producer for the screening. Omowunmi Dada was co producer and executive producer.
The crime thriller was directed by Fatimah Binta Gimsay and written by Gimsay and Abdul Tijani Ahmed.
It follows five women involved in a cross-border smuggling operation whose situation changes after the daughter of one of them is kidnapped.
The cast includes Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Lateef Adedimeji, Omowunmi Dada, Scarlet Gomez, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Ibrahim Yekini and Uzor Arukwe.
The screening was organised by Rixel Studios in collaboration with FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios and Switch Visuals Production.
Hamzat and Lagos State commissioner for tourism, arts and culture Toke Benson-Awoyinka were among those at the event.
Other attendees included Kunle Afolayan, Lateef Adedimeji, Kunle Remi, Stan Nze, Linda Ejiofor and Gabriel Afolayan.
