Olubadan Kingship: Controversies As Ladoja Absent At Olubadan - In - Council's Meeting At Lekan Balogun’s Residence

Members of the Olubadan - in - Council has been reported to have met on Monday in a meeting held at the home of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Lekan Balogun, who some sect assumes to become the new Olubadan following the demise of the occupier of the stool, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

Naija Metro recalled that the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan Land, Late Oba Saliu Akanmu Olasupo Adetunji joined his ancestral father yesterday after a brief illness at the age of 93.

The chiefs, who met at the Ali Iwo home of High Chief Balogun on Monday afternoon, included the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Abdulateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe; the Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Owolabi Olakuleyin; the Asipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole; the Ekarun Olubadan, High Chief Amidu Ajibade, among others.

Though details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed as of the time of this report, Tribune Online gathered that the chiefs met over the next line of action following the demise of Oba Adetunji who died on Sunday, January 2.

It was therefore reliably gathered that the Osi Olubadan, Senator Rasheed Ladoja was not at the meeting. Recall he was the only high chief who turned down the obaship title the administration of late Governor Abiola Ajimobi conferred on others. He subsequently took the then administration to court over the review of the chieftaincy title.

A similar development is of a lawyer who charged a law suite to notify Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde of the course case trying to legalize the Obaship of the 21st Ibadan kings promoted by immediate past Governor, Late Abiola Ajimobi adding that if the course case should be legally followed, none of the promoted kings are eligible to become Olubadan as A king cannot serve double positions.
