The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the approval for the recruitment of 30,000 new officers into the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to boost security and address manpower shortages.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Ahmad Abdulhamid Malam Madori, who represents Jigawa North East, disclosed this during a briefing with journalists in his office.

He explained that the Police Service Commission (PSC) received the green light from the Federal Government to proceed with the recruitment drive this year, aimed at strengthening law enforcement nationwide.

Senator Madori noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed the annual recruitment of officers to close existing gaps within the Force and ensure adequate policing across the country.

He assured that details of the recruitment process will be made public through national newspapers, while also advising Nigerians to stay alert and avoid falling victim to fraudsters posing as agents of the commission.
