Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, an influential businessman and philanthropist from Kano, has passed away at the age of 94.


The news of his death was made public on Saturday through a Facebook post by his Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid.


“With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata. May Allah forgive his sins and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus,” Junaid wrote, noting that funeral arrangements will be announced later.


Dantata, known for his contributions to the Nigerian economy, was the founder of Express Petroleum & Gas Company Ltd. 


He was also closely related to the Dangote family, being the brother of Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s grandfather.
