Twitter’s co-founder and Block CEO, Jack Dorsey, has launched Bitchat, a messaging app that operates without internet connectivity.
Bitchat utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy mesh networks to facilitate secure, peer-to-peer encrypted messaging between nearby devices.
One of the app’s most notable features is its ability to operate entirely offline, making it particularly useful in areas with limited or no internet connectivity.
Furthermore, messages are end-to-end encrypted, stored locally on devices, and automatically deleted after a short period, ensuring user’s privacy.
The app enables devices to form local Bluetooth clusters, passing messages along as users move through space, effectively extending communication beyond standard Bluetooth range.
Additionally, messages are delivered to offline users once they come back online.
