The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed circulating claims that it suspended former governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun, describing them as entirely false.
In a statement on Thursday, August 21, the party’s Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, labelled the report “malicious” and a deliberate attempt to sow discord within the party ranks.
“The claim regarding Senator Amosun is not only untrue but reckless, designed by faceless actors and political opponents to create confusion and tarnish the reputation of Ogun APC,” Nuberu said.
He clarified that the only disciplinary action recently ratified by the State Working Committee involved the indefinite suspension of former governor Senator Gbenga Daniel and another member from Sagamu Local Government Area, as recommended by their respective wards.
Nuberu emphasised that no official organ of the party authorised any suspension against Amosun. He urged the media, party members, and the public to completely disregard the false narrative.
“The actions of those spreading this fake news are criminal and carry serious consequences,” he said.
“We have reported the matter to relevant security agencies and will pursue prosecution against anyone involved in its creation, funding, or dissemination.”
He further warned that the party is determined to identify and hold accountable the individuals behind the alleged cybercrime.
“The APC in Ogun State remains united, strong, and committed to delivering good governance. We will not be distracted by the antics of desperate elements,” Nuberu concluded.
