Tomeka Thiam, the wife of legendary American pop singer and songwriter Akon, has reportedly filed for divorce after nearly 29 years of marriage.

Recall that the couple tied the knot on September 15, 1996 and share a 17-year-old child.

According to a report from TMZ, Tomeka Thiam filed for divorce from Akon four days before their 29th wedding anniversary, citing irreconcilable differences.

Tomeka Thiam is reportedly seeking joint legal and physical custody of her 17-year-old child with Akon.

Additionally, she’s requesting spousal support, while blocking Akon from receiving any spousal support from her.

Notably Akon has been open about his personal life, including his relationships.

He has multiple children with different women, including Tomeka Thiam, and has been known to have complex relationships.
