Court Bars Mark, Aregbesola From Parading Selves As ADC Leaders

A Federal High Court has stopped former Senate President, David Mark, and ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, from parading themselves as National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The interim order, granted Thursday, also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to recognise the duo or any of their associates in those positions, pending the hearing of a motion before the court.

The suit was filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former Deputy National Chairman of the ADC, who is challenging INEC’s recognition of the new leadership. 

Bala insisted he remains the authentic chairman of the party.

INEC had earlier updated its records to reflect Mark as National Chairman and Aregbesola as National Secretary, alongside other members of the new National Working Committee (NWC).

The electoral body’s decision followed the dissolution of the previous NWC led by Chief Ralph Nwosu at the ADC’s 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
