The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims that a Federal High Court order barred Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from performing their duties as National Chairman and National Secretary.
The party described the reports as deliberate misinformation aimed at destabilising its leadership, emphasising that the court had not issued any injunction against its top officials.
“These false narratives are the last resort of political jobbers who are frustrated by the Independent National Electoral Commission’s recognition of our leadership,” Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary said in a press statement released on Thursday.
The clarification follows the court’s ruling on September 4, 2025, by Hon. Justice Emeka Nwite, which rejected an ex parte application filed by Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe.
The judge directed that the defendants be formally notified and appear in court to explain why the request should not be granted, adjourning the matter to September 15 for further proceedings.
ADC urged both the media and the public to exercise caution and verify claims before circulating reports.
“We encourage Nigerians to distinguish between genuine news and politically motivated misinformation,” the party added.
The party’s statement also warned that attempts to misrepresent judicial decisions are part of a broader strategy by political operatives seeking to undermine opposition parties.
Bolaji Abdullahi further reiterated the importance of accurate reporting to prevent confusion and protect democratic processes.
