Talented Afrobeats singer, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, well known as Spyro, has opened up about his long struggle with fear of failure, which he linked to his father’s constant criticism while growing up.
The “Who Is Your Guy” crooner in a candid conversation with TV host Frank Edoho, revealed that his father’s negative remarks during his childhood made him internalise self-doubt and low self-worth.
He admitted that those words haunted him for years, creating a deep-seated fear that he would never succeed.
He said; “My dad always told me I was a failure, and I began to believe it.”
He further recounted how his personal relationship with God became the turning point in his emotional and professional journey.
He said that his renewed faith gave him confidence and clarity, helping him overcome years of fear and disappointment.
“God changed my mindset,” Spyro said, adding that prayer and self-belief transformed his outlook and opened doors to new opportunities in music and business.
