The authority of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has warned students and staff to stay indoors from 9:00 p.m. daily following reports of possible security threats around the institution and its host community.
In an internal memorandum dated October 7, 2027, and signed by the Registrar, R. I. Adebayo, the Polytechnic said the directive became necessary after receiving intelligence about the suspected presence of armed herdsmen in Iree and its environs.
“The entire Polytechnic Community, especially students, are hereby informed to stay indoors anytime from 9:00 p.m. in Iree and its environs.
“This alertness and security awareness arose based on intelligence gathering from the community on the possible presence of some Fulani herdsmen which may likely pose possible security threat that is likely to endanger your movement,” the memo added.
The management urged students to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary movements at night.
It also advised them to immediately report any suspicious activity or perceived threat to the institution’s Chief Security Officer through the phone numbers 07033166585 and 07034557451.
The Polytechnic assured that the measure was purely preventive, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all members of the campus community.
