Osun 2026: I’m Too Popular To Lose – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared that no opposition candidate stands a chance against him in the forthcoming 2026 governorship election, boasting that his performance and popularity have already secured the people’s mandate for a second term.

Speaking before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Screening Committee in Abuja on Thursday, the governor said his administration’s achievements have strengthened public trust in his leadership, giving him confidence of victory at the polls.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Osun governorship election for August 8, 2026, while party primaries are scheduled to hold between November 24 and December 15, 2025.

Adeleke noted that the PDP in Osun remains strong and united, describing the state chapter as “one big family” working harmoniously towards progress. 

He insisted that the unity within the party has contributed to the administration’s visible development strides across the state.

According to him, “Osun people can see the results of our work. We are building roads, improving schools, supporting workers, and empowering youths. 

Anyone can verify our progress, it’s there for everyone to see. That’s why I’m confident that no one can stop us in 2026.”

The governor maintained that his re-election bid is buoyed by the same determination that saw him unseat an incumbent in 2022, saying his administration has achieved “unprecedented progress” within two years.

He added, “If I could defeat a sitting governor before, imagine how easy it will be now that I’m in charge and performing well. 

"Osun is moving forward, and our people are happy with the results.”

Adeleke also dismissed fears about facing the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that his popularity cuts across political lines. 

“Even APC members appreciate the changes we’re making. Wherever I go, the people welcome me with love,” he said.

He further expressed optimism that the 2026 election would be free and credible under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. 

“During my first election, there was so much federal pressure, yet we prevailed. 

"This time, I believe the President will ensure fairness. All we ask for is a transparent process,” he said.

Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more developmental projects before the end of his tenure, saying he will “keep working, dancing, and spreading joy” across Osun State as preparations for the election intensify.
