Oyo 2027: Folarin Makes Shocking Visit to Adelabu at Private Residence

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 election, Senator Teslim Folarin, on Sunday paid a shocking private visit to the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, at his residence in Ibadan.

What looked like a simple courtesy call has already stirred political conversations about the shape of alliances ahead of 2027.

The meeting, which held behind closed doors, drew attention largely because both men have been political rivals within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and maintained structures and loyal supporters that have factionalized the opposition party across the state.

They noted that even though governor Seyi Makinde remains popular in the state, his absence on the ballot and possible understanding between Folarin and Adelabu, two figures with strong roots in Ibadan politics, would complicate calculations for PDP come 2027.

A source privy to the meeting hinted that the conversation was cordial and far more strategic than ceremonial. The source also noted that the talks between the duo touched on the prevailing political climate, governance concerns in the state, and what both men described as the need for “a stronger front” as the next election cycle approaches.

Adelabu, who currently holds a ministerial portfolio at the federal level, has embarked on political consultation across the state in a bid to advance his governorship ambition.

Coupled with Folarin’s steady re-engagement with his political networks, the visit fuels speculation of a realignment that might unite interests long considered parallel.

Though neither Folarin nor Adelabu offered public details, the timing of their meeting has become the main talking point.
