The Oyo State Police Command has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime with the successful dismantling of a notorious criminal hideout in Ikoyi-Ile, Orire Local Government Area of the state.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, and made available to newsmen on Saturday, the Command confirmed that the early morning operation on November 1, 2025, led to the arrest of six suspected members of an armed gang known for terrorizing communities through kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent activities.
The operation, which took place in the thick forest of Igbo-Awe near Iboran village, was carried out by operatives of the Ikoyi-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with other security agencies and local informants.
Items recovered from the hideout include:
One AK-47 rifle loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, Four empty AK-47 magazines, A Nigerian Army jungle hat, A military life jacket
A pair of army uniforms, One Infinix Android phone and one Itel phone.
According to CSP Adewale, the items recovered highlight the group’s high-level preparedness and suggest an intent to carry out coordinated criminal operations. “This breakthrough is a testament to the relentless efforts of the Oyo State Police Command and our commitment to securing every corner of the state,” the statement read.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities promptly.
