Troops Destroy Suspected Terrorist Camps in Kwara, Recover Arms

Troops of the 22 Brigade under Sector 1 of Operation Safe South-South have carried out a clearance operation in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, dismantling suspected terrorist hideouts and recovering weapons.

The development was disclosed by a counter-insurgency and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, via a post on X on Saturday.

Makama stated that the operation began around 6:00 a.m. on April 24, as troops moved out from their harbour location in Kamenji and advanced towards Tungan Mariga.

He explained that during the operation, soldiers located and destroyed makeshift camps believed to be used by suspected terrorists at Nuku village.

According to him, six Dane guns were recovered in the course of the exercise.

Makama added that the troops later proceeded to Woro village, where the commanding officer addressed personnel and evaluated the progress of the mission.

He further noted that the troops were reinforced with an additional armoured personnel carrier fitted with a QJC weapon system to boost operational efficiency.

“The operation was conducted without resistance and ended successfully,” he said.
