The invitation came after a video of the senator’s comment at an All Progressives Congress campaign programme in Ilesa went viral on social media, triggering widespread reactions ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, the police ordered Fadahunsi to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo by 11am on Wednesday.
The invitation was signed by the Commissioner of Police in charge of elections in the state, Samuel Etaifo Erale.
The police said Fadahunsi was being invited to provide clarification on statements allegedly made during his address, which it described as threatening, provocative and capable of intimidating members of the public.
The command added that the remarks had been circulated widely on electronic and social media platforms.
In the video, Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, was heard allegedly asking APC supporters to kill Accord members whenever they came across them.
The comment generated strong criticism, forcing the senator’s camp to issue a clarification on what he intended by the statement.
His representatives said the senator was using the expression metaphorically to urge voters to reject the Accord Party at the ballot box and not to physically attack its members.
In a statement headed, “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence,” the team maintained that the senator’s message was intended as a political appeal for a decisive electoral defeat of the opposition party through peaceful and democratic means.
The police invitation comes amid growing political tension in Osun as parties intensify campaigns ahead of the August 15 governorship poll.
Accord candidate and incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, has repeatedly accused members of the APC of attacking his supporters, allegations the ruling party has rejected.
