A video currently making the rounds online has sparked widespread public outrage after a man was filmed allegedly attempting to lure a young girl hawking avocados into a secluded location with a promise of ₦1,000 for sexual activity.
The incident was brought to public attention by content creator LordZeus, who posted a confrontation video on his Instagram page on Tuesday, sparking immediate reactions across the country.
In the footage, the suspect denied any wrongdoing and attempted to pass himself off as the girl’s father.
The child, however, dismissed his claim and narrated how the man approached her and asked her to accompany him to a hidden spot so they could “touch body,” offering her ₦1,000 as inducement.
She further revealed that when she declined, the man produced the cash physically in a bid to pressure her into compliance.
The confrontation drew a crowd of onlookers, some of whom interceded on the suspect’s behalf, describing him as mentally unstable.
They also alleged that the girl was not his first target among young hawkers in the area.
“Leave him, he’s not well,” a voice was heard saying in the video.
LordZeus, however, rejected that line of reasoning, insisting that a claim of mental illness could not be allowed to justify predatory conduct towards a minor.
Seizing the moment, the content creator also addressed parents directly, cautioning them against sending underage girls to hawk alone on the streets, warning that such children faced grave risks of sexual harassment that often went unreported.
He wrote on his page, “Parents please, no matter how hard life gets, do not allow your girl child, especially underage ones, to hawk on the streets alone. Even if they must hawk, hawk alongside them. They are constantly at risk of sexual harassment, and many of them will never speak up.”
