The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has questioned Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to use a privately owned radio station for his two-hour media chat, accusing his administration of allowing the state-owned Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) to become moribund.

The party said the condition of BCOS raised questions about the governor’s choice of platform for the Sunday interview, during which he responded to questions from a presenter on a private radio station in Ibadan.
In a statement issued on Monday, the APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, alleged that BCOS had deteriorated under Makinde, claiming that the corporation’s land and resources had been sold at what he described as ridiculous prices, while its studios had been left in poor condition and staff subjected to maltreatment.
The party also faulted the content of the media chat, describing it as a waste of the audience’s time and public resources because, according to it, the governor failed to address pressing issues affecting residents.
The APC specifically criticised Makinde’s comments about his presidential ambition, saying he should have used the opportunity to explain what his administration was doing with the substantial allocations and financial support it receives from the Federal Government.
It also questioned the governor’s response to insecurity, including the recent abduction of three staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), and demanded answers on efforts to secure their release.
The party further asked what the state government had done for the 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps members from Oyo State who were kidnapped in Imo State and later rescued, including whether any support or compensation had been provided to them and their parents.
The APC also described the resignation of Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, as an “ominous sign” that all was not well within the administration.
On the proposed ₦21 billion redevelopment of Agbowo Shopping Complex, the party urged the governor to abandon the project, citing his earlier declaration that his administration would not award new contracts from December 31, 2025.
The party accused Makinde of allowing his political ambition to distract him from governance, insisting that his media engagement should have focused more on the security situation, public spending and other pressing concerns in Oyo State.
